You probably already knew that golf is not just a leisure sport. It is the ‘three-martini lunch’ of the modern business executive and golf courses offer tension-free environments where actual business contacts are made and lucrative deals discussed.

Just about any person can play golf and a round can take four hours, or even more, – the majority of it which is spent walking, planning and talking.

If you are looking to enjoy an adventure through the greens, fairways, bunkers and other hazards, without distracting too much from your business networking, then Walmer Golf Estate, situated along River Road in Walmer, Port Elizabeth, is certainly your best bet.

Fondly called Little Walmer, this historic course was established in 1897, which makes it one of the oldest and most prestigious golf clubs in South Africa. It boasts a nine-hole course with 18 different tee-boxes.

Now surrounded by a golfing estate, the course provides any golfer with many challenging holes, regardless of handicap. Its signature hole is the par-three 6th which is only 127m long. One’s tee shot must be accurate, to avoid getting the ball wet in the pond which extends right up to the green.

When the Estate was established in 2005, a new clubhouse was also built, as well as five new and challenging greens. The Club House is a two-storied building with all the necessary and modern amenities. A state-of-the-art water reticulation system to ensure well-watered fairways and greens throughout the year was also installed.

In addition to its picturesque fairways, ponds and bunkers, the club has warm and friendly members making it a social melting-pot and an ideal setting for the various corporate functions and events that are hosted at the course.

Catering for functions is also provided in-house. Their restaurant offers a large variety of menus to choose from. They can still customise their menus to suit your needs and budget. If you are arranging an office golf day or post conference entertainment, you may want to give them a call today!

For your convenience, if you, your staffs or conference delegates have never swung a golf club before, Walmer Golf Estate has coaching facilities where their professional golfers teach enthusiasts and golfers of all ages about the game.

Above all, the golf course is situated just 10 minutes from both the PE CBD and the International Airport. It is also within reach of PE’s major shopping centres, hotels and other tourist attractions – ensuring convenience for your out-of-town guests.

The golf course is the new business network! To join in the legacy of Walmer Golf Estate or to book a tee, call 041 581 1613 or visit them online at www.walmergolfestate.co.za.
